This pretty antique old European cut diamond necklace was made with a repurposed antique diamond and set by hand in Toronto in a new 14k yellow gold bezel and finished by hand with our signature millegrain detail. The diamond is very pretty with the classic flowery faceting characteristic of old European cuts. The diamond weighs 0.47 carats, I-J colour colour, VS/SI1 clarity. The belcher or rolo style chain is 10k yellow gold and is 16 inches long.
Millegrain is a specialized gem setting technique where the edge of the setting is broken up in to tiny beads which reflect the light coming from the diamonds so the entire piece seems to sparkle, popularized in the early 1900s and common in many Art Deco period pieces. Millegrain is French for "a thousand grains". I love how the millegrain detail gives a simple setting some extra sparkle and a sophisticated feel. Matching earrings are also available.
